Obituary: Jacob Hale Isler "Our Champion"
December 30, 1977 – October 22, 2011
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29th, 1:00 pm at Fry Memorial Chapel in Tracy, for Jacob Hale Isler who passed away in his home surrounded by family after a 2 year courageous battle with Adrenal Cortical Cancer.
Jake was born to Virginia and the late Mark Isler in Castro Valley, California. Early on Jake showed a great love of sports. He was kicking and catching a ball almost before he could walk. Throughout his school days he was on many soccer, baseball, and football teams, and always loved the camaraderie. His talent and ability to inspire others earned him many Captain and MVP titles. But, it wasn’t until his diagnosis in 2009 that we saw what a true champion he was.
Jake attended school in both Castro Valley and Truckee, and graduated from Castro Valley High in 1996. Attending College in Chico he met many special lifelong friends as well as the love of his life, Amy.
Jake and Amy were married in 2003 and made Tracy, CA their home. They spent the first years of their marriage enjoying family and friends, and taking many impromptu trips. Jake’s proudest moment was the day his son James was born in 2009. Jake loved being a father and looked forward to being “buddies” with his son and teaching him how to be a man.
Spending time with family and friends was very important to Jake. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when at the beach at Pajaro Dunes, golfing, and planting vegetable gardens. He was an avid duck and goose hunter, and sadly passed away on the opening day of duck hunting season.
Working his way up the construction ladder with Antrim and Proforma, he eventually became a Superintendent. Being a real “people person” and motivator he got great satisfaction managing large construction projects.
Survived by his best friend and wife Amy Isler, son James Isler, mother Virginia Isler, sister Traci Isler, grandmother Marge Bullock, aunt Lisa Isler, uncle Don Isler, sister-in-law Beth Thompson, mother-in-law Victoria Thompson, grandmother-in-law Jean Locke, best friend Jarret Shaeffer who was always by his side, and many friends and family that have lovingly become known as TEAM JAKE.
Jake was well known for: his humor in difficult situations, quick wit, being a loyal and generous friend who would go the extra mile, his love of family and traditions, the 4th of July, and never giving up … For these reasons, and so many more … Jake will be missed forever.
At Jake’s request, an Education Fund has been established for his son, James Isler. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: James Isler Education Fund, 1852 W. 11th Street, Box #123, Tracy, CA 95376-3736
