Obituary: Jeff McCarthy
Jeff McCarthy was born on April 18, 1980 in Truckee, CA and joined Jesus Christ and God The Father in Heaven on December 21, 2012.
Jeff lived a lot of life in his short time on earth. After graduation from Pied Piper Pre-School, Truckee Elementary and Truckee High School in 1998, Jeff headed for college in San Diego. After several years at Mesa Community College, Jeff graduated from San Diego State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. During college, Jeff began his career at Verizon Wireless, spending many years as a successful sales associate and then as a very popular and successful store manager. Jeff and Nina met at Verizon in 2000 and were married in Kings Beach, CA on September 2, 2006.
Jeff loved all kinds of sports and outdoor activities, baseball, ice hockey, football, hiking, camping. He loved Truckee in the summer and the winter and he loved the beautiful weather in San Diego.
Jeff and Nina lived a fulfilling and fun life filled with countless friends. He was warm and caring and a very outgoing person, always willing and quick to help others. Jeff was known for his very special bright smile and wonderful laugh, which will be deeply missed by so many.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his wife, Nina, Mom and Dad, Dwight and Pam, sister Meghan Cole and their families: niece and nephew, Daisy and Braden Cole, Aunt Connie Deming, grandmother Elizabeth McCarthy, Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Larry; Father and Mother-in-law, Dennis and Johanna Krakenberg, grandmother Nina Krakenberg, brother-in law, Denny Boy, sister-in-law Cynthia, and cousin-in-law, Mathew, and all of his friends here in Truckee and in San Diego where he lived for the past 14 years.

A memorial service is planned on this Saturday, Jan. 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Sierra Bible Church, 11460 Old Brockway Road, Truckee, CA with a reception following. Visitation is available for those interested at Truckee Mortuary in downtown Truckee on Saturday, Jan 5th from 11:30 to 12:30 a.m.
