Obituary: Joan Marie Roelke

Joan Marie Roelke passed away on March 3, 2012. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Sept. 17, 1936. She made Lake Tahoe her home for 10 years and resided the past 8 years in Reno, Nevada. She was a free lance writer and enjoyed her family, cooking, travel and researching for all of her articles and books. She also loved animals especially Snauzers. Joan truly loved making friends and helping others. She dedicated much of her life to making people feel valued and loved.

Joan was an only child and was preceded in death by her father, Paul Charles Rich and Marie Kusmida Alves. Joan is survived by her four daughters: Paula Berriz (and husband Frank), Erin Lenahan, Laura Martell (and her husband Rick) and Patricia Lenahan. Joan has six grandchildren: Jason Berriz, Brittany Berriz, Erica Berriz, Angela Callahan, Lindsay Nelson, Gregory Love and Crystal Hesser. She was very much loved and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank all of Joanand#8217;s many friends in the Tahoe and Reno communities for their outpouring of love, prayers and support.



A celebration of Joanand#8217;s life will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. at her home.
