Obituary: Kathleen Anne Ferris
Kathleen and#8220;Kathyand#8221; Anne Ferris was born in Rockville Centre, New York on May 7th, 1961 to Richard and Joan Kiernan. From there her family moved and settled in Southern CA, where she went to high school and also achieved graduating from Cosmetology College and became a licensed hair dresser. She then met her husband of 27 years, Dave Ferris. They packed up and made the move up to Truckee CA, and soon after were very happily married.
Kathy and Dave opened Ferris’ Truckee Station, along with Ferris Heating. She was a very motivated and hard working woman, juggling running the restaurant and bookkeeping for the business, while continuing cutting clients’ hair on the side. After five years of marriage Kathy and Dave started their family when she gave birth to her first son Ryan in 1989 and her second son Tyler in 1991. She devoted her life to raising her children with every bit of love she had. She protected her family like the mother bear she was and did everything in her power to make them happy. She always made sure they had everything they ever wanted. She was a mother who was always involved in her kid’s sports, either coaching or being their #1 fan. You could always find her shopping, whether it be for herself or her kids or nephews and nieces; she was always spoiling her babies. Kathy considered all of her closest friends a part of her family and she could always bring out the biggest smiles in everyone at every occasion she attended. Kathy was an amazing person inside and out and will always be remembered for her charisma, personality, beauty, strength, and also her devotion to her family.
Kathy’s true strength and determination arose in 2005 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, one of the worst cancers you could have. Throughout the 6 years she fought the sickness she still looked as if she was her normal self, glowing and shining just the way she did before. She is now looking down on us pain free and as healthy as she has ever been.
Kathy is survived by her husband Dave Ferris, two sons Ryan and Tyler Ferris, brother and sister Kevin Kiernan and Susan Case, all nephews and nieces, and her closest friends.
God Bless and Rest in Peace. We love you.
