Obituary: Manuel Mendoza

Mendoza, Manuel, born July 16, 1920 in Oakland, Calif. He passed away quietly at his daughter’s home in Truckee, Calif. on Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, 2009, surrounded by his daughters and son-in law, Arthur and Stephanie Lopez, and Dolores Stabolito from Arizona.

He was preceded into heaven by his wife Anna Mendoza 35 years ago. He is survived by his sons Jim Moniz and Dave Vargas, his grandchildren Arthur, Jason and Markus Lopez, Michael and Arthur Stabolito, Eugene, Tony and Rosie Moniz all from Truckee. He also had 10 great-grandchildren in Truckee. He grew up and lived in the Oakland/San Leandro area most of his life, until three and a half years ago when he came to stay with his daughter in Truckee. He met so many loving people and touched so many lives with his gentle mannerism. He will be deeply missed.

A graveside service will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hayward, Calif. on Monday, March 2, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to http://www.alz.org in memory of Manuel. Arrangements in care of Truckee-Tahoe Mortuary.
