Obituary: Michael Stewart Moore
Michael Stewart Moore, 60, passed away after a difficult year with cancer and a blood disorder which he bore with remarkable serenity; a man at peace with himself. He lived much of his life in the Sierra, close to the ski slopes he loved before moving to Santa Rosa about 10 years ago. He was an athlete; a cyclist and gym rat, but most of all he was a skilled downhill skier and lover of the world’s challenging runs. He volunteered at Sugar Bowl working with kids and disabled others learning to ski. He graduated from UNR with a BA in Political Science. Michael was in recovery and had 23 years of high quality sobriety. His wry wit could match the best of them.
He is survived by his sisters Pat Peters and Margaret Moore, as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends who were more than faithful to the very end. A memorial service for Michael will be offered Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 2 p.m. at 740 No. Main St., Sebastopol, CA.
