Obituary: Peter John Minks

Love is a word that does not even begin to describe the open heart Peter John Minks had for so many people. Pete left us on the 7th day of January 2012 to climb the mountains of heaven.

Born on the 29th day of July 1947 to May Kent-Daubney in Birkenhead, Great Britain, Pete worked in Snowmaking at Alpine Meadows. His mum remarried and Pete was legally adopted by his stepfather Alfred Minks.

Pete had a passion for mountaineering that drove him to attempt some of the most strenuous and difficult climbs in the world. The things he saw many only read about. His great enthusiasm reached far beyond the cliff side. He was a prideful man, who took great satisfaction in everything he did. One of Peteand#8217;s greatest accomplishments was being a loving father and great friend.

Pete is survived by his two sons, Timothy Alfred Minks and Curtis John Minks; Brothers Alan and David; daughter-in-law Amanda Minks; and the many great friends that became his family.

There will be a celebration of life memorial in honor of Pete being held on Saturday the 14th day of January 2012 at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort from 5-8pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to The Peter Minks Memorial Account at any of the local Plumas Bank locations (Tahoe City, Kings Beach, or Truckee) or sent to PO Box 6780, Tahoe City, CA 96145.
