Obituary: Rosemary L. Casey

Rosemary Laubendar Casey, beloved friend, advocate, and mother to seven children, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2010. Rosemary, 93, was a California native, a graduate of UC Berkeley and a highly regarded champion for the developmentally disabled and their families in Iowa and California. She was active in her community and a consulting liturgist to her church into her eighties.Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Casey, with whom she honeymooned at the Brockway Hotel in Lake Tahoe in 1945.She is survived by her children, Jim andamp; Jamie Casey and Brian Casey of Tahoe City, CA; Patrick Casey of Palm Beach, FL; and Timothy, Sharon andamp; Sheila Casey of Sacramento, CA; plus eleven grandchildren, including Forrest Casey and Caleb Turk of Tahoe City, Cherissa Casey of Santa Cruz, CA, Jason Casey of Nevada City, CA, Sarah Znerold of San Diego, CA, andamp; Rachel Znerold of San Francisco, CA; and five great-grandchildren, including Rory andamp; Eva Turk and Finn Orion Casey of Tahoe City, CA.Her spirit, wit, courage, commitment and passion for life will continue to inspire those who knew her. Rosemaryandamp;#8217;s ashes will be spread over Heavenly Valley near Lake Tahoe. May she rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Loaves and Fishes, 1 North C.
