Obituary: Sonia Dee Art

Sonia Dee Art passed away July 4, at her apartment in Truckee, CA. Sonia was born with cerebral palsy in Hartford, Iowa Feb. 1, 1936.She came to Truckee ten years ago from a facility in San Diego to live with her friend, Toni DeLaney. She also lived at the Extended Care Center and for the past 6 years at the Truckee Senior Apartments. Although Sonia was severely disabled and in need of full-time care, she was intelligent and andamp;#8220;in charge!andamp;#8221;Sonia so enjoyed her life here, and could often be seen shopping or going out to eat in her town. She loved playing bingo, going to church, ceramics class, jazz music, parties, television, animals, chocolate and jewelry. She was grateful to her friends at CHOICES, especially Reyna Lopez. She was assisted by the kindness of many wonderful caregivers, including Esperanza, Alicia, Anna, Marta, Jessica and Ivory and others. She appreciated the special service she received at Truckee Dial-A-Ride. The great care she received at Tahoe Forest Hospitalandamp;#8217;s ER, ECC, ICU and Med/Surg. was the best. Soniaandamp;#8217;s amazing courage in this life and sweet smile inspired so many.She is survived by her sister, Kay Boyer, and many beloved friends including Larry Settle of San Diego, Toni DeLaney and the Peterson Family. A reception in her memory will be held Monday, July 13th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at her apt. #58. Condolences and andamp;#8220;Sonia memoriesandamp;#8221; may be sent to to be printed and added to our Sonia book. Thank you.
