Obituary: Steven Roy Thomas

March 24, 1953 – July 5, 2013

Steve Thomas (60) passed away on July 5, 2013. Steve was the owner and founder of Thomas Fabrication and Boatworks where he showcased his design knowledge and expert skills as a talented and dedicated craftsman.

Throughout his career, Steve completed numerous wooden boat restorations and won 7 first place boating awards. His competitive spirit, nautical artistry and attention to detail made Steve and Thomas Fabrication and Boatworks a name synonymous with excellence, elegance and style.

Earlier in Steve’s career he successfully designed, built and raced canoes. He won 2 state championships, qualified in 3 Olympic time trials and won 2 western regionals. He also spent many years on his sailboat out on Whiskeytown Lake. Steve also enjoyed collecting and restoring antique bicycles.

Recently Steve moved to one of his favorite places near Lake Tahoe. He spent his time fishing and cruising around on Donner and Tahoe Lakes. Steve was a loyal husband and friend. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Cristi, sister and brother-in-law Stephanie and Jim Thompson, nephew Carlan Adkisson, step-children; Mandi and Sean Owens, Cody Selvester and Lacy Selvester, grandchildren; Weston and Landon Owens.

A celebration of life for Steve will be held on August 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Richmond’s Residence 4812 North Lake Blvd, Carnelian Bay, CA.
