Obituary: Susan M. DeRyke
Susan M. DeRyke, beloved Tahoe local, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 2011. She has gone on to her next adventure!Sue, born April 13, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Jean and James DeRyke, was manager of andamp;#8220;The Bookshelfandamp;#8221; for many years, where she enjoyed talking to and helping people through her love of books. Sue loved spending time with her family and friends, and was proud and happy to be a grandmother. A beautiful soul who had a kind heart and friendly smile for everyone. Her passions included photography, kayaking, her dogs, and walking the beautiful Tahoe trails that she so loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Sue is survived by daughter, Terri Lynn Morton; mother, Jean DeRyke; brother, Tom; sisters, Sally, Patti, Pam and Jane; son in law, John Morton; and grandson, Jace Thomas.A Celebration of Susanandamp;#8217;s life will be held in at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Blackwood Canyon Meadows, followed by a potluck luncheon at Tahoe Park Private Homeowners Beach.
