Obituary: Suzanne (Sammi) Laura Destruel, Nov. 11, 1958-Oct. 29, 2010
November 10, 2010
Our dear friend Sammi Destruel passed away October 29, 2010 at her home in Santa Rosa, Calif. Sammi will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, generosity, loyalty, and especially her love of life. She will also be remembered for never meeting an adoptable dog that didnand#8217;t come home with her.
Born Nov. 11, 1958 to Jean and Rosemary Destruel of Santa Rosa, Calif., she attended Ursuline High School and was a graduate of St. Maryand#8217;s College in Moraga. Sammi had two sons, Michael A. Baker III U.S.N. and Jordan H. Baker U.S.N.
She and her family moved to Truckee in the 1980s. She worked for Mary Sutton at Sierra Sports and Physical Therapy and later managed the Jackass Ridge store in downtown Truckee for more than 10 years.
While Sammi left this world way too soon, we know that the soul chooses its own time to go. She had many friends in the Truckee Tahoe region who will remember her, especially Stefanie Olivieri, who basked in the warmth and affection that always radiated from Sammi.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of the Incarnation, 550 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, Calif., Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. All are welcome to attend.
