Obituary | Verona M. "Vonnie" Jones: Feb. 20, 1927 – Oct. 29, 2010

On a beautiful fall day, Vonnie passed away peacefully in her sleep after battling a lengthy illness. She was in her home with her three children at her side during the last weeks of her life. Vonnie was recently widowed; her husband M.F. “Bud” Jones passed away in February 2010. Bud and Vonnie were long time Tahoe residents, having moved to Carnelian Bay in 1951, just before the “big snow”. They built a real estate business together and raised their children; Vikki Walker, Greg Jones, and Gary Jones; all graduates of Tahoe-Truckee High School. Vonnie is survived by seven grand children; Cebron Walker, Ariana Ladew, Kayne Montana Walker, Athena Gouessan, Tiana and Allison Jones, and John Paul Jones-Wozniak; and by her great grand children; Orion Walker, Natalya and Ayden Wozniak.

Vonnie loved having her family in her home for holidays throughout the year, or on the ski slopes, or on hiking and fishing trips. Another favorite activity of hers was an annual trip to Hawaii, a blast of warmth and sunshine before winter settled in at Tahoe. Bud and Vonnie loved to travel and saw much of the world together, right up to the last year of their lives.

The family will be having a private service in their home. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the professional and very loving care provided by Hospice of Tahoe Forest Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Tahoe Forest Hospital Hospice Foundation.
