Obituary: Wanda Carlson Lippert

Wanda Carlson Lippert, 99, died on Oct. 16, 2012, at the Tahoe Forest Hospital Extended Care Center.

In 2006, she had moved to the ECC for special medical care and to be close to her son Tom and his wife Laurel. Born in Milnor, No. Dak., of Norwegian ancestry, Wanda earned a teaching degree at Ellendale State college.

In 1938 she married Al Lippert, owner of the local general store in Ashley, No. Dak., and had two children. Five years later they moved to Lodi, Calif., where they lived for 60 years. Wanda taught elementary school in Lodi and shared her gift of music by playing piano, singing with a choral group, and directing the church choir.

She is survived by her son Tom (Laurel) in Truckee, daughter Kathy (Gary) Knecht in San Dimas, grandchildren Tom (Nikki) Knecht in Montecito and Krista (Lance) Knutson in Moraga, along with five great grandchildren.

Wanda’s family is extremely grateful to the ECC and medical staff at Tahoe Forest Hospital and TTMG for the extraordinary care they showed her for six years. The ECC staff’s attention to every detail of her daily care was unsurpassed, as was their genuine love and concern.
