Officers arrest Oakland man after vehicle burglaries

Staff reportsTruckee police arrested an Oakland man who they believe was responsible for a rash of vehicle burglaries at local gas stations on Wednesday.”They were traveling through our community and developed a vehicle problem and were breaking into vehicles looking for car parts,” said Truckee police Lt. Harwood Mitchell.Police arrested Darius Swain, 22, of Oakland. Two women and a 1-year-old child were released at the scene.Police suspect that Swain smashed the windows of several cars at the Shell station, the Coldstream 76 station and the employee parking area next to the agricultural checkpoint to steal items inside the vehicles.All of the stolen property was recovered, police said. Swain was booked into jail on burglary charges and on an outstanding warrant from San Bernardino County. Bail was set at $32,500.
