Old Greenwood to be featured on Golf Channeland#8217;s Travel Show

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee and Head Golf Pro Travis Alley will be featured on Golf Channeland#8217;s Travel Show, GolfNow Reno-Tahoe, on Monday, Oct. 10.

The segment will air at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and will be available online in January at http://www.golfchannel.com/tv/golfnow.

Golf Channel producers and film crew shot the segment in early July 2011, during the height of the Northern California Sierra golf season. Host Lauren Thompson and Alley played several holes on the backside of Old Greenwood, which boasts some of Truckeeand#8217;s most picturesque vistas seen from holes 14, 15 and 16.

Thompson and Alley also discussed Truckee as an emerging Golf Mecca, Nicklausand#8217; Inaugural Round at Old Greenwood in 2004 and course-playing strategy.

Old Greenwood, which opened in 2004, features a signature Jack Nicklaus-designed course and The Golf Academy at Old Greenwood. Travel + Leisure Magazine has recognized Old Greenwood as one of the Top 100 Golf Communities, and Golf Digest rated the course among the 30 Best Golf Courses in California.

Adding to Old Greenwoodand#8217;s popularity is The Golf Academy at Old Greenwoodand#8217;s Director of Instruction, Keith Lyford, who recently earned the 2011 NCPGA Teacher of the Year Award. Lyford is also the only Top 100 Teacher on the interstate 80 corridor from San Francisco to Reno, including Sacramento. He earned the Top 100 Teacher recognition from GOLF Magazine, whose panel of expert judges selects from a pool of more than 28,000 PGA professionals. Both the golf course and The Academy are open from mid May until mid October.
