One dies in Highway 50 crash on Tuesday

LAKE TAHOE ” A vehicle went over an embankment on Highway 50 near Old Meyers Grade Tuesday afternoon, killing a man who was in the vehicle, authorities said.

Lake Valley Fire Chief Jeff Michael confirmed at the crash scene that one person was dead.

The man was believed to be the vehicle’s only occupant, but authorities were searching for any other possible victims.

Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash. Traffic was reduced to one lane around the site of the crash, about a half mile above Old Meyers Grade.
