One Truckee business cited in underage alcohol sting

TRUCKEE, Calif. – One Truckee business was cited for selling alcohol to a minor during a two-day Truckee Police sting operation last week, the department announced Monday.According to a Truckee Police Department press release, officers conducted a sting operation on Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, in which a minor was used to attempt to purchase alcohol from businesses licensed in Truckee by the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises.Of these 18 licensed businesses in Truckee, J&L Food Mart, located at 12105 Donner Pass Road, was the only one to complete a sale of alcohol to the decoy. The clerk was cited for a violation of Section 25658(a) of the Business and Professions Code for selling alcohol to a minor and released with a promise to appear, according to police.”Minor decoy operations in the area of alcohol and tobacco sales are part of on-going operations intended to make our community a safer place to live and play,” police said in the press release.Those interested in learning more about California’s alcohol laws may obtain information from the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, or visit
