Open house for new Town Hall

The Town of Truckee will host an open house Thursday, Feb. 1, at 4:30 p.m. at its new building on Airport Road to present the new Town Hall to the public.

Refreshments and tours will be offered from 4:30 to 6 p.m., just before the town council meeting at 6 p.m. that evening.

The presentation by Town of Truckee Mayor Don McCormack, will begin at 5 p.m.

“I am going to give a brief formal dedication,” Mayor McCormack said Tuesday. McCormack added that he hopes all the Town Council members will be present for a photo, a tradition the town hopes to continue indefinitely.

“We are going to try and get a picture of every installation of Town Council,” said Vice Chair Bob Drake, who will be presenting a flag donated by U.S. Rep. Wally Herger (R-Chico) that was flown over the Capitol in Washington D.C.

Town Hall moved from the Truckee Donner Public Utility District on Donner Pass Road to the 40,000-square-foot building at 10183 Airport Road last November. Town Council continued to hold its meetings at the old building while work on the new town hall was completed. This will be the first time the room will be presented to the public.
