20th Annual Women’s Wellness Weekend: Education, screenings and fair in the Village at Squaw Valley

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The 20th Annual Women’s Wellness boasts a weekend full of health and wellness related educational sessions and activities for women of all ages at The Village at Squaw, Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24.
Opening keynote speaker, Joelle K. Jay, PhD is author of and#8220;The Inner Edge; The 10 Practices of Personal Leadership.and#8221; Jay coaches leaders in the strategies of personal leadership and#8212; what management expert Peter Drucker once called and#8220;the only leadership that’s going to matter in the 21st century.and#8221; The Inner Edge offers 10 practices of personal leadership, showing leaders to improve their effectiveness while sustaining a sense of professional well-being. Leadership is not just a label; it is a way of life.

Saturday evening at Squaw Valley, Girls on the Run hosts the Second Annual and#8220;LUNAFEST Film Festivaland#8221; at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $49 per person in advance and $55 at the door. Price includes dinner, wine and the film. Women’s Wellness participants receive a $5 discount.
On Sunday, Oct. 24 peruse a health fair specifically designed for women of all ages that includes free screenings, chair massages and group exercise classes. Specific screenings are as follows: Balance screening, gait analysis, body fat testing, bone density screening and skin cancer screening. Other offerings include: Brow waxing, chair massage, biofeedback demo and much more. An optional guided group hike in Squaw Valley and group exercise classes are also available. Enjoy a and#8220;Good Morning Flow Yogaand#8221; class, Mat Pilates, outdoor boot camp and ski conditioning, along with exercise basic classes and yoga for sleep.

A nutrition express class will also be offered on Sunday morning and afternoon. Topics include meal planning and a guided tour to the grocery store to pick out nutritionally dense and overall healthy food choices. Learn how to clearly understand food labels and make optimal health choices.

Women’s Wellness lab draws will be offered from Oct. 4 through Oct. 15 at all Tahoe Forest Health System lab locations (Incline Village Community Hospital, Tahoe City Laboratory, Tahoe Forest Hospital and Tahoe Forest Occupational Health in Truckee) during regular lab draw hours. Participants pick up their lab results at the Women’s Wellness Health Fair, Sunday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
