A friend in need: Julia Santos-Coy to be held in Kings Beach

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Julia Santos-Coy is a remarkable woman who has overcome many devastating situations in her life, and has served our community for the past 17 years at Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services as a bilingual advocate and client services coordinator. Disaster struck Julia Sept. 10 on her way home from work, when her motorcycle slid to avoid an accident on Highway 267. Her leg had to be amputated just below the knee. She is currently undergoing physical therapy and treatments to adjust to her new prosthesis and begin walking again. As the bilingual advocate and client services coordinator, Julia has helped hundreds of people in this community re-build a more peaceful, violent-free life. At this time, Julia needs the support of the community as the medical and personal expenses begin to build up. Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services is hosting a Kermes as a benefit for Julia Santos-Coy. The event will have great food, music, face-painting for children and a raffle, all to raise money to help Julia and her family overcome this tragic accident.
