MEEKS BAY, Calif. and#8212; Meeks Bay Fire Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual Book and Bake Sale on Sunday morning, Aug. 1, 2010, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Tahoma in the Mariani Plaza where the post office is located.

The Bake Sale features home baked breads, muffins, cookies, pies, and cakes, perfect for Sunday morning breakfast or Sunday dessert. The baked goods sell out early in the day. The book sale will continue all morning with a large selection of paperbacks in every genre sold for just 25¢a book. Most hardback books sell for just $1.

The sale will also feature auxiliary retail items, like Smokey Bear key chains and teddy bears. There is also a selection of cookbooks, aprons, T-shirts, and sweatshirts.

All money raised during the sale will be donated to purchase equipment for the Meeks Bay Fire District. The auxiliary has worked for years to fund purchases which would otherwise not be budgeted for the Fire District and a list is on hand of all the purchases that have been made.

Book donations are welcome. Books may be dropped off at the Fire District Headquarters on Highway 89 prior to the sale or drop books off on the day of the event before 10 a.m. for immediate public sale.

The Ladies Auxiliary is also looking for new members. The turnout for the Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast was amazing, and they could definitely use more workers to share the load. If you are looking for a way to say thank you to the wonderful fire department, join the crew of ladies who work so hard to put on these two summer events by calling Carol Endicott at 525-1970.
