Burton a rising culinary star at Stella

The Cedar House Sport Hotel is continuing its growth by adding Jacob Burton as chef of their up-and-coming restaurant, Stella. Burton has an extensive cooking background, one that actually started on his childhood dinner table and#8212; taking in the aroma and vision of a certain inspirational family member.
and#8220;I remember watching my great-grandmother move effortlessly throughout the kitchen, making amazing meals well into her 80s. Iand#8217;ve always been fascinated by the simple pleasure you can give with a well prepared meal,and#8221; said Burton.
With cooking embedded in his earliest memories, Burton went on to attend the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. During his time at the CCA, he landed his first restaurant gig at the intimate, La Folie. There, he moved up systematically in the kitchen. By the time he graduated, he had worked at every station gaining valuable experience in a Michelin Star winning environment. La Folie marked an impressive start to Burtonand#8217;s career.
After completing his degree, Burton decided to uproot and move to the Tahoe area, where Hyatt Regencyand#8217;s Lone Eagle Grille in Incline Village was waiting. After a short stint as a line cook, he accepted a position as Sous Chef at The Big Water Grille, where he worked under North Lakeand#8217;s renowned Chef Jay Veregge. While learning from Veregge, he matured as a cook, eventually starting his own podcast and#8212; Free Culinary School (freeculinaryschool.com) and#8212; to share his love with others; much like his grandmother indulged him in her endeavors. Burton believes the only way to truly master a skill set is by teaching, and he was master of the kitchen at Fredrickand#8217;s Fusion Bistro. Its small and cozy environment gave Burton a direct influence on every plate.
With his harmonious cooking style already evident, Burton brings his strength and passion for and#8220;everything cookingand#8221; to The Cedar House Sport Hoteland#8217;s Stella. The restaurant is the newest addition to the avant-garde hotel. Winner of the 2009 Hospitality Award for the Truckee Chamber of Commerce, The Cedar House is rapidly gaining popularity.
