December 14, 2009
The Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT) is pleased to announce Dave Ferrari as the recipient of the 2009 Chris Ballin Award and Barbara Hopkins as the recipient of the 2009 CCTT Partner of the Year Award.
The Chris Ballin Award is given in recognition of those persons who advocate for cultural competency, equality and social justice in our community. Chris Ballin is remembered as the Founding and longtime Director of La Comunidad Unida (The United Community) formed in response to growing racial tension on the North Shore. Ballin was an enthusiastic collaborator who had creative ideas, experience and knowledge for working with communities and those in need.
For many years, Dave Ferrari has demonstrated why he deserves this award through his selfless efforts to develop and champion organizations such as La Comunidad Unida, Boys and Girls Club of North Tahoe, North Tahoe Family Resource Center and Sierra College. Ferrari has been constant with his leadership and vision throughout the region.
The Partner of the Year Award is given in recognition of regional collaboration and vision for our community. For more than 20 years as program manager for Sierra Family Services, Barbara Hopkins has consistently shown an unsurpassed compassion for the community while at the same time providing critical leadership necessary to sustain quality mental health services in the Tahoe region. Hopkins has been instrumental this past year in expanding mental health services in Truckee.
