Downtown Truckee Wine Walk andamp; shop selects CATT and Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services as 2009 event beneficiary

Truckee, Calif., (June 12, 2009) andamp;#8211; For the last five years, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop event has raised thousands of dollars for various non-profit organizations in the community. This year a portion of the eventandamp;#8217;s proceeds will be donated to the Contractor Association of Truckee Tahoe – Community Projects (CATT CP) to complete a needed kitchen remodel of the Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Servicesandamp;#8217; Mountain Rose Safe House. Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services (TWS) is a community-based organization providing direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other individuals in crisis. Since its 1982 inception, TWS has become one of the most reliable safety net providers in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee areas, serving increasing numbers of individuals and families. The Mountain Rose Safe House is a six-bed, 60-day shelter run by TWS. It was built in 1938, and while the house has been updated over the years, the kitchen is long overdue for some remodeling. With up to five different families occupying the house at the same time, there is a great need for improved storage and cooking space. The Contractor Association of Truckee Tahoe – Community Projects (CATT CP) has volunteered to help make this project happen. CATT CP is a 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to the improvement of the community through utilization of their resources. CATT members will be donating hours of planning and labor to the project, while Wine, Walk andamp; Shop hopes to raise the funds needed to purchase materials. The popular Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop event has gained momentum in each successive year. The first Wine, Walk andamp; Shop drew nearly 500 attendees and InnerRhythms Dance Theatre received $2,000 of the proceeds. Since then attendance and participation has grown with nearly 1,000 attendees shopping and strolling through downtown Truckee. Last year $5,000 was raised for the Truckee Elementary schoolsandamp;#8217; Special Friends program. Plan to come out and support CATT and TWS by attending this yearandamp;#8217;s Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop on October 3 from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are available online at http://www.TruckeeWineWalk.com. Attendees can sample the finest wine paired with food samples from the areaandamp;#8217;s best restaurants and catering companies in historic downtown Truckee, all while supporting local merchants and contributing to two worthwhile nonprofit organizations that make our community a better place to live.
