Special to the Sun

Submitted to aedgett@sierrasun.comand#8220;Big Crow,and#8221; by Kathryn McGaughey, is an example of the artistand#8217;s bold narrative of seeing familiar things in a different light.

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; For a fresh perspective at the perfect time, come take a look. Riverside Studios in downtown Truckee is pleased to show Kathryn McGaugheyand#8217;s new body of artwork this First Friday April 6. The art reception will take place 4-8 p.m. and will include music and beverages.

Kathryn McGaugheyand#8217;s work is an ongoing narrative about the things we overlook within the familiar.

She vacillates between the starkness of black and white and healthy doses of color and pattern.

Her subjects are invariably animals or things found in the natural world including structural elements.

Kathryn McGaugheyand#8217;s most recent work takes a different trajectory, exploring the gap that has come about with the sequestration of death in our society and#8212; a consequence of which is the loss of public recognition of mourning.

Her work is bold and beautiful.
