Full Circle Movement
October 31, 2008
Full Circle Movement celebrates the opening of its new exercise studio in Truckee on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. The open house celebration includes wine, a fashion show, art by local artists and a raffle. Following, Full Circle Movement will be offering free, interactive Pilates and Gyrotonic® demonstrations on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both events take place at Full Circle Movement’s new studio location inside The Rock at 11253 Brockway Road, Suite 102, Truckee and are open to the public.
Truckee studio owners Paula Smith and Sarah Bailey combine forces to create Full Circle Movement: a Pilates, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis (movement yoga) studio.
Smith is a certified Pilates instructor with nine years experience, who’s becoming certified in Gyrotonic. Full Circle Movement is the only of its kind in the Truckee-North Tahoe area. “We just really like each other’s teaching style,” said Bailey, a nine-year Gyrotonic veteran. “We both believe in getting people connected, healthy alignment and creating more body awareness.” Also on board is Jen Fluharty. Jen brings her 15 years experience as a bodyworker. Combining knowledge from Pilates, gyrotonic, and massage, her passion is using movement and massage to help people out of pain.
To showcase the benefits of Gyrotonic and Pilates, Full Circle Movement is offering free, interactive demonstrations and short massages to the community on Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Gyrotonic System, according to Bailey, is “the fountain of youth for joints” by strengthening the core and improving joint articulation and mobility as well as increasing overall flexibility. It focuses on spiral and circular motions, simulating the feeling of moving in water, with no impact. “We want to give people the opportunity to use the equipment and see how it feels,” Bailey said.
Full Circle Movement is also announcing its fall class schedule, designed to prepare clients for the upcoming ski, snowboard and cross country seasons. “Many athletes suffer from joint injuries,” explains Bailey. “We want to help our clients by adding longevity to the sports they love to do.”
Bailey and Smith co-teach Pilates and Gyrotronic circuit classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m., as well as on Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Classes cost $30 to drop in, or customers may purchase a 10-pack for $25 per class. Full Circle Movement also offers Pilates mat classes on Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $15 drop in, or a 10-class package for $12 per session.
