TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; About 90 Girl Scouts and their dads gathered one Saturday night at the Community Arts Center for an old fashioned Father Daughter Game Night. The event was hosted by Troop 461, a troop of Truckee fifth graders. They had a lot of help and support from Girl Scout Volunteers new and old. The 10 Junior Girl Scouts planned the event to raise money for a trip to San Francisco, to bridge to the next level of scouting. The girls thought the event was a huge success and look forward to doing it again next year.

They borrowed a Karaoke machine from Mrs. Waters of Glenshire Elementary School. They played games like three-legged sack races, hula hooping and tug o’ war with their dads. Outside were more fun games such as an egg toss, a donut on a string eating contest and bobbing for apples. One dad left saying, and#8220;Only in Tahoe would you see girls bobbing for apples in 21-degree weather!and#8221; Truckee Pizza was sold by the slice and there were tons of board games and crafts, too.

The girls went from game to game in order to earn chips which were then cashed in at the end of the night for great prizes from the Variety Store, Totally Board, The Bookshelf, Gioielli, The Tree House, Burger Me! and the Sports Exchange. Troop 461 wishes to thank all of the business owners and community members who sponsored and supported the event including New Moon Natural Foods and The Treat Box Bakery.
