IVGID GM’s Corner: Exciting times for the district, our venues
September 28, 2016
If you picked up a physical copy of last week's Bonanza, you likely noticed that the latest version of the IVGID Quarterly was included as an insert.
As we've noted before, the Spring and Fall versions of the Quarterly include our Parks and Recreation Activity Guide.
While I'm sure that most of you have taken advantage of our recreation programs, I would strongly encourage regulars and newcomers to take a close look at the latest Guide.
There are always new programs and new activities. There are also new times and dates for programs you might not have been able to attend in the past.
We have a wide range of youth activities including: Middle School Volleyball Clinics, Youth Basketball leagues, Fall Epic Base Camp for girls and boys K-5th grades, Youth swim lessons, Incline Tahoe Aquatics Swim Team, Pre-K enrichment specialty classes and many more!
Some of our upcoming Adult and Senior programs include: CO-ED Adult Volleyball Leagues, Shotokan Karate, and Indoor Pickle Ball and Tennis at the Recreation Center, as well as Adult Ballet and Senior Trips to Amador Wineries, Apple Hill and Nevada City for Victorian Christmas.

Also don't forget that the Recreation Center offers a variety of group and aqua fitness classes along with personal training and massage therapy.
Plenty of residents take advantage of all of these great programs and activities, along with many we haven't mentioned.
The Parks and Recreation Department annually experiences over 100,000 visits for youth, adult, family and senior programs, 115,000 visits to the Recreation Center and 32,000 visits for our Fitness, Health & Wellness programs.
So please be sure to check out the new edition of the IVGID Quarterly for a complete list of all programs, events and activities that the Parks & Recreation Department has to offer this coming Fall & Winter.
The Quarterly also highlights Diamond Peak. Our community ski area is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year!
There will be lots of special programs and activities in conjunction with this milestone. Be sure to read the Quarterly and periodically check Diamond Peak's webpage to learn more about all the great events planned for this year.
And just a friendly reminder that Diamond Peak season passes are available at a discounted rate through October 31. Season pass and daily rates are all listed in the Quarterly.
While we've increased some of our prices, our rates are still among the lowest in the West, and our season ticket holder perks continue to get better each year. Season Passholders now get 44 bonus lift tickets to 11 ski resorts across the western United States including two in the Tahoe region — Boreal and Homewood.
Your season pass also comes with 4 discounted tickets for a friend, ten percent off food and beverage, 20 percent off equipment tuning and a number of passholder-only events.
Opening Day is scheduled for December 15, with an earlier opening if Mother Nature decides to cooperate again this year.
The Quarterly also dedicated seven pages to our new trash collection procedures! If you have more questions about trash and don't want to surf the web, the Quarterly is your one stop shop.
I know a lot of folks have expressed concern that they don't have room in their garage to accommodate the new containers. If you put out two 32 gallon cans, like our average resident, the new cans will be more efficient for you.
The photos on page 8 of the Quarterly demonstrate how the slim design of the new containers actually take up less space than your typical store-bought trash can. Please remember all of your trash must fit inside your cart, extra bags can no longer be placed next to your trash cart.
Be sure to start using you new trash containers next week!
By the way, you can also access the current version of the Quarterly and previous versions of the Quarterly on our website.
Besides the insert in the Bonanza, the Quarterly is mailed directly to all of our property owners and residents.
The Quarterly is just another example of IVGID's goal to try and find as many means as possible for providing information to all of our property owners, stakeholders and residents.
