Kid-O-Rama: Squaw announces week-long youth extravaganza

SQUAW VALLEY, Calif. and#8212; Squaw Valley comes alive this February with a week-long kids extravaganza. Big trucks, street parties, balloon animals, skating parties and kidsand#8217; concerts are just a few of the festivities for kids and families taking place during Squaw Valleyand#8217;s Kid-O-Rama. From activities sure to entertain Squaw Valleyand#8217;s littlest visitors to action-packed teen snowsports lessons, Kid-O-Rama offers non-stop fun for kids of all ages. Be sure to check out Big Truck Night in the Village featuring fire trucks, snowplows and grooming machines, as well as an outdoor kidsand#8217; concert and Dance Party on Ice at High Camp. Saturday, Feb. 18 and#8211; Saturday, Feb. 25: Family Movie Night

Free family movies shown every night of Kid-O-Rama in Plaza Bar in Olympic House. Movies are free and the Rock Bar area of the bar will be open for parents. Movies include (in order of appearance): Rango, Cars, Ice Age, Lion King, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Happy Feet and The Incredibles.



Saturday, Feb. 18: Kid-O-Rama Street Party

Take to the streets for the Kid-O-Rama Street Party featuring a DJ with records that kids can spin themselves, face painting and glow sticks galore, 3-5 p.m.



Saturday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 19: S’mores and Tubing

Head over to SnoVentures to experience Squawand#8217;s new tubing hill and treat yourself to some delicious make-your-own sand#8217;mores, 3-6 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 18 – Saturday, Feb. 25: Teen Group Lessons

Teens can explore Squawand#8217;s amazing terrain with skiers and riders their own age and of similar ability levels. Price: $139. Ages 13-17. From 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Save $10 by booking three days in advance. Call 1-800-403-0206 to book.

Sunday, Feb. 19: Family Ski Racing

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mom or Dad, brother or sister can go head to head on the Ford NASTAR Raceway, located skiers right from the top of the Gold Coast Express. Races cost $5 for two runs, or $10 for the full day.

Tuesday, Feb. 21: Kids’ Night at Rocker@Squaw

Kids eat free with their parentand#8217;s purchase of dinner. Free face painting 3-5 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 22: Kid-O-Rama Dance Party on Ice

Squaw is bringing back a host of roller rink favorites including the hokey pokey and freeze dancing for the Dance Party on Ice! At the Olympic Ice Pavilion, 1-4 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 23: Kid-O-Rama Big Truck Night

For everyone who has ever thought trucks are cool, Big Truck Night is here. Kids and families can check out the massive machinery that makes the mountain tick and meet the drivers behind the scenes. In the Tram Promenade, 3-5 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25: Kid-O-Rama S’mores and Tubing

Head over to SnoVentures to experience Squaw’s new tubing hill and treat yourself to some delicious make-your-own s’mores, 3-6 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 25: Kid-O-Rama Kidsand#8217; Concert with Todd Wees

Squaw Valley will have extraordinary kidsand#8217; musician Todd Wees putting on a concert for families and kids of all ages in the Village Events Plaza, 3-5 p.m.

All Week: Kids Crafts and Game Room in The Village

The Kids Crafts and Game Room will also be open all week in the Palisades Room in The Village at Squaw Valley. Kids can play ping pong, air hockey, foosball and more, along with an array of arts and crafts. Game room is $10 per child, complimentary to Village guests.

In honor of great conditions and more snow on the way, Squaw Valley is offering two completely unrestricted days of skiing and riding for just $49 per day. The Tahoe Super 2 is valid for any two days in the 2011-12 winter season, and includes two additional Friday afternoons for free. The only catch? Even though the Tahoe Super 2 is valid for the rest of the season and#8211; the pass must be purchased by this Friday, Feb. 17.
