Lake Tahoe communities comes together to clean up ‘Bay to Bay’ district

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Saturday, June 4, 2011 the Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay and Crystal Bay communities will take to the streets to pick up trash. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in each community. Check in stations for each community are: Kings Beach, conservancy lot next to Enviro Rents at the corner of Highway 28 and Coon Street; Tahoe Vista, Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort (Cable Car Ice Cream); Carnelian Bay, parking lot next to Gar Woods and the Tahoe Biltmore in Crystal Bay. Maps will be on hand at registration tables to designate clean up areas. All clean up volunteers and participants will receive a blue recycle bag, Sunflower starter plants, complimentary flower pony pack and a Clean Up Day Hat. Volunteers can also look for “golden items” and win prizes. Golden items include a golden wrench, golden disk, golden computer mouse and a golden coffee cup.There is also a barbecue for all volunteers after clean up at The Grid Bar & Grill, with great food from The Grid, ice cream from Susie Scoops Ice Cream in Incline Village, Nev. and music featuring The Wrinkle. Ten things you can do to clean up your community• Join the North Tahoe Business Association, Saturday June 4 at 9 a.m.• Lead by example and clean up trash around your home or business• Become a North Tahoe Clean Up Day sponsor or adopt a street to keep clean• Pick up trash while walking to work or along the beach• Keep trash from local critters, wait until pick up day to put out trash and recycle bags• Recycle!• Clean up flower beds and boxes and plant soon• Touch up paint• Clean your windows and awnings• Pull together any hazardous waste and call Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal to schedule a drop off appointmentThe 2011 Bay to Bay Clean Up Day is organized by the North Tahoe Business Association Organization Committee and supported by local businesses and community members. Incline Village, Nev. Tahoe City and Truckee are also hosting Clean Up Day activities, creating a North Lake Tahoe wide effort to clean up our communities and get ready for the summer season!This year, there will also be a community yard sale, Sunday, June 5, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Bay to Bay residents and business owners are encouraged to participate in this first ever yard sale. The North Tahoe Business Association, 8318 N. Lake Blvd., Kings Beach is a nonprofit 501 (c) 6 organization that strives to provide leadership and facilitate redevelopment efforts to create a healthy balance of commerce, employment, entertainment and livability while preserving the unique beach town atmosphere of North Lake Tahoe.
