Letter to the Editor: Share your concerns about Canyon Springs
May 22, 2014
The proposed Canyon Springs development project is currently under draft environmental review (DEIR) for 177 single family housing lots and eight multi-family lots on the eastern boundary of Truckee, adjacent to the existing Glenshire-Devonshire community.
It is presently unknown when the final environmental review document (FEIR) will be released to the public, but as a concerned community, we can and should anticipate timing around fall-winter of 2014.
In my Dec. 20, 2012 Letter to the Editor, "Wrong Place, Wrong Time," I forewarned the Truckee community of the impending due date for public comment on the Canyon Springs DIER in March 2013.
Over 75 comment letters went back to Truckee planning staff in response to the insufficiency and concern over the DEIR, and of the project as a whole. I want to personally extend a delayed thank you to all of the letter writers, both individuals and agency representatives.
Clearly there is concern throughout the entire Truckee community as to the potential negative impacts of the Canyon Springs development.
In early 2014, I joined the Board of Directors of SOS Glenshire, a grassroots organization dedicated to protecting valuable open space in and around Glenshire (www.sosglenshire.org).

The only way we can obtain open space protection is with the support from the whole Truckee community.
