Letter to the Editor: Vote Falk, Spohr, Jellinek for hospital board
October 21, 2014
I don't know about the rest of you, but I am tired of the smear campaign of the "status quo" candidates for Tahoe Forest Hospital Board.
Candidates Chuck Zipkin, Dale Chamblin and Ned Hughes are suggesting that their opposition — Mark Spohr, Greg Jellinek and John Falk — would close or drastically reduce critical services, and even close the Cancer Center. Ridiculous. How ignorant do the "status quo" candidates think we are?
These types of threats are similar to ones used on us for Measure C a few years back — the emergency room would close or cut hours; the maternity facility would close; in the event of an earthquake, the building would fall down.
Now they say the Cancer Center would close. Really? We bought it for Measure C — are we going to buy it again?
Who would benefit the most for a change of leadership at Tahoe Forest Hospital? The best answer is the community and caregivers. Those who might not benefit are those who might have their hand in the cookie jar. A change of leadership could shine the light of day on practices that might just be questionable.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I want integrity, honesty and ethical behavior in the leadership of the things we pay for through our tax dollars. We have a right to expect these qualities.
