Miller serves 30 years at Meeks Bay Fire District

MEEKS BAY, Calif. and#8212;-WHEREAS, Board President Edward I. Miller has served the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District as a Director for 10,943 days (almost 30 years!); and
WHEREAS, over the decades, Director Miller has seen numerous changes to the District and Community; and
WHEREAS, for the past 28 years, Director Miller has also served as the President of the Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, President Miller has also witnessed the change from dirt roads to modern macadam streets in the Tahoma community; and
WHEREAS, President Miller has assisted the District in moving from a step above horse-drawn steam engines and bucket-brigades, to a modern fire agency with foam and other technological bells and whistles on our 4-Wheel Drive fire apparatus; and
WHEREAS, President Miller has also seen numerous directors (some great and others challenging) come and go; and

WHEREAS, over the decades, President Miller has spoken to thousands of homeowners; witnessed tons of pancakes and sausages being consumed, and assisted at numerous pancake breakfasts; and
WHEREAS, President Miller has attended numerous classes and conferences over the decades to educate himself about the finer details of board and district management; and
WHEREAS, President Miller has also been and#8220;The Voiceand#8221; for the District acting as our Public Information Officer for events, press releases and emergency information dissemination; and
WHEREAS, President Millerand#8217;s company has donated numerous hours over the years in assisting with sign designs, logo development, T-shirt designs, radio interviews and other communications events; and
WHEREAS, President Miller loves to come to summer meetings on his motorcycle with music blaring to announce his arrival; and
WHEREAS, this same and#8220;boom box motorcycleand#8221; has also provided hours of music at District picnics and other events; and
WHEREAS, President Miller is noted for his ability to drag out meetings with his fabulous jokes and unique gift of gab; and
WHEREAS, this resolution could go on for pages about President Millerand#8217;s efforts on behalf of the District, but due to time constraints we will spare you the history lesson.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the other Directors of Meeks Bay Fire Protection District hereby extends its sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Edward I. Miller for his three decades of dedicated, loyal and committed service to the people of Meeks Bay Fire Protection District and Lake Tahoe Communities.
Passed and adopted by the Board of Directors of Meeks Bay Fire Protection District of County of El Dorado at a regular board meeting of said board, held on the 22 day of February , 2012 by the following vote of said board: ayes, 4; noes, 0; abstentions 1 (Miller) vice-president, board of directors; absent: 0, by: Nicholas J. Kromydas.
