Mother/son laser tag, shoot with them, not at them!

Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The annual Father/Daughter Dance, a collaboration among many North and West shore organizations, was a huge success and created lasting memories for everyone who attended. To recognize all those mothers who put in countless volunteer hours, the Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department has put together an evening of fun, sweat and laughs to be shared with those loving sons. This first-time event will have mothers and sons lacing up those tennis shoes, activating those laser guns, and partying the night away with others from the community. While not in the laser tag arena, there will be many exciting games and challenges. This evening is just one way that not only mothers and sons, but any female role models and male youths will be able to enjoy a special evening dedicated just to them. We all know a nice slow dance between father and daughter to the tunes of Billy Joel and Celine Dion is a heart-warming time, but good luck trying to duplicate that. The mother/son evening will be based on upbeat and challenging activities. Adults and children alike will leave with a sense of importance and huge smiles. All participants will receive a special keepsake as well as prizes won in the free raffle. The event will take place at Rideout Community Center on Friday, March 9, 2011, kicking off at 6 p.m. and going until participants canandamp;#8217;t run any longer! Tickets are $25 per duo and only $5 for each additional child. Snacks will be provided while pizza will be available for purchase. Tickets are available at Rideout Community Center, andamp;#8220;The Storeandamp;#8221; in Tahoe City, Geared for Games in the Boatworks Mall, Ruffles andamp; Ruffnecks in the Cobblestone.
