New production biz gets into ‘Hip Hop for Hope’

SMC Enterprises is a new local music production company founded by Cedar Lampe. SMC produces, manages and promotes artists and events. The goal of SMC is to provide a fresh and consistent flow of great local music. SMC’s first artist, D-funk, has done shows in Truckee, Chico, San Luis Obispo, and San Francisco. His and#8220;October Snow EPand#8221; is out now, and the full length LP, and#8220;Abstract Aura,and#8221; is dropping in early 2010. Visit dfunkhiphop.bandcamp.com.

Also in the works is and#8220;Hip Hop for Hope,and#8221; a benefit concert in memory of Melissa Hope Dennison. and#8220;Hip Hop for Hopeand#8221; is set for Jan. 23, 2010. The event will feature Cambo, DJ Effective, and D-funk performing live, along with a raffle and silent auction (not to mention a bar to keep you grooving). All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Hip Hop for Hope team in the AIDS Lifecycle event, a 545-mile, seven-day ride to raise money for AIDS research.
