North Lake Tahoe Resort Association awards $12,300 in second community grants cycle
June 13, 2011
TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; The North Lake Tahoe Resort Association (NLTRA), in collaboration with the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, recently awarded $12,300 in grants as part of the second cycle of its 2010-11 Community Marketing Grant Program. The NLTRA awarded nearly $50,000 in grants last fall as part of cycle one.
All of the grants awarded to recipients are to be used for this fiscal year, July 2010 to June 2011, or next fiscal year, July 2011 to June 2012. Those receiving grants in the second cycle were: the Lake Tahoe Trail 100K, Northstar-at-Tahoe, $4,600; 2011 Tahoe Expo, Sustainable Tahoe, $4,600; Tahoe Trail Running Series, Big Blue Adventure, $2,000 and Living History Day, California State Parks, $1,100.
The Community Marketing Grant Program provides marketing and promotional support to special events or projects and programs that bring visitors to the region, generate local and regional business revenue, provide local and regional media exposure, and opportunities for public relations. Grants cannot be used for capital investments, salaries, operational overhead, food and beverage, entertainment and supplies. Since the funding for this grant program comes from Placer County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), through the NLTRA, the public revenue and other benefits generated must accrue principally to areas within Placer County.
The North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce staff reviewed all Community Marketing Grant Program applications followed by the Chamber of Commerce Advisory Committee, which approved the second cycle grant recipients at its April 20 meeting. The NLTRA Board of Directors approved the second cycle grant recipients as a Consent Calendar item on its regular Board of Directors meeting agenda at its May 4 meeting.
