Obituary | Consuelo (Connie) M. Diaz

Consuelo (Connie) M. Diaz, 86, passed away Feb. 7, 2012 at her home in Sparks, Nev. surrounded by her family after losing her battle with cancer. Connie was born to Carlos and Eusebia Marin in Kennett, Calif., March 12, 1925. She married Neponuceno (Cheno) Diaz in 1940, they were married for 55 years.
Connie was raised in Sparks, Nev. She later moved to the Truckee area where she lived for many years before moving back to Sparks in 1974. She had a long career in banking both in Truckee, Calif. and in Sparks. After retirement, her passion became gardening, she had the most beautiful yard on the block. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Ray and Max Marin, her sisters Carmen and Socorro Flores and Esther Amburn. Connie is survived by her daughter Anita Coleman, her sisters, Pauline Diaz, Lupe Laylon and her brother Cal Marin, grandsons Ed and Jeff Coleman, great grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Kyle and Marisa Coleman, plus numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A rosary and memorial will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 5:30 p.m. at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, 1538 C St., Sparks. The service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14, 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 2900 N. McCarran Blvd., Sparks, followed by the burial at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery, 2700 N. Virginia St., Reno, Nev. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society in memory of Consuelo M. Diaz. Friends may visit 444 G St., Sparks, after the burial.
