Opinion: Go back to the Bay? Say it isn’t so, Lake Tahoe!

Skiing down Lakeview at Alpine Meadows last week, blue skies above and epic snow below, I couldn’t keep the grin off my face!

I felt so blessed to be exactly where I was until I got to the bottom of the lift. The lift operator had a water bottle, and on it was a sticker that said “Go Back To The Bay.” Ouch!

I felt like I was at this awesome party, just loving the whole scene, having a great time, and then someone got in my face and said “Who invited you!’

This guy was essentially saying I didn’t belong there, and was not welcome. And here I thought that as a person who loves the mountains and skiing, I was part of his tribe!

Thin-skinned? Maybe. But it seemed this lift operator was biting the hand that feeds him. I would venture to guess that close to half the people on the mountain are from the Bay Area.

You would miss us if we really did all go back to the Bay! But you’re welcome to come visit us in the Bay Area anytime you want. We would welcome you with open arms.
