Opinion: What a Ullr Fest

The Diamond Peak Ski Education Foundation is very proud of the great turnout and quality of our sixth annual Ullr Fest community event, Jan. 22-25, our biggest to date.

We want to thank the community at large for attending these events and everyone involved who provided generous amounts of time, effort and donations to support the Diamond Peak Ski Team.

We are extremely grateful that support for the ski team came from contributors within and contributors outside the ski team membership. We cannot thank you enough.

We also want to recognize and thank Diamond Peak Ski Resort and IVGID for their cooperation and support without which the Ullr Fest events would not have been possible.

Everyone enjoyed watching the spectacular Friday night Torchlight Parade, along with S'mores, Wild Bill's BBQ and live music from "Jacked Up" who played at DPSR's Loft Bar.

Our Saturday night dinner-auction was a huge success and was beautifully catered by the Chateau's F&B team. In addition, DPSEF hosted two fantastic days of ski racing at DPSR for the USSA Far West Division. Teams from as far away as Mammoth Mountain commented on how well the races were run and on the quality of DPSR's snow conditions.

This year's Ullr Fest also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the creation of DPSEF and its successful ongoing relationship with DPSR and IVGID.

DPSEF has operated a successful ski team at DPSR for the past thirty years and it is our hope that the Ullr Fest community events will continue to grow in popularity in the years to come and become a Winter celebration that continues on with the next generations of skiers, riders and Incline Village families.

Again, we wish to thank everyone for their participation and for the contributions of every kind that helped make this a successful event. We also wish good luck to Diamond Peak Ski Team alumna and Incline Village's very own Lila Lapanja, who is representing the United States at the Audi FIS Alpine World Championships now in Colorado. Go Lila!
