Pro Control Driving Academy perfect for teens, weather conditions
November 22, 2010
TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; With its new office at 10056 Spring St. in Truckee’s historic district, Pro Control Driving Academy will enable young drivers to complete their California DMV-required minimum six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and learn good driving habits for life.
General manager Mike Dietel currently operates a primary driving school in Reno at the National Automobile Museum and the high performance driving school at Fernley Raceway in Fernley, Nev. Dietel has been an active driving instructor for more than 35 years at the famed Nurburgring in Germany, one of the world’s most demanding courses.
Instructor Prentiss Davis has long been active in teen driving instruction with emphasis on accident avoidance and car control. Like manager Mike Dietel, Prentiss has a long involvement in auto sports, but an even longer interest in driving safety, going all the way back to his high school driver ed classes. Davis said, “I try to impress each young driver that with good driving habits, accidents just need not ever happen.
“For proof, I like to point out that I personally have well over a million miles of accident-free driving, mostly on southern California freeways, but with plenty of driving experience all over North and South America, Europe and even Asia.”
Manager Dietel promises Pro Control will provide each young driver far more than the minimum required to pass the DMV test. “Our primary goal is not to pass a test but to make safe drivers,” said Dietel.
To minimize distractions, all lessons are private with only one student in the car at any time. Classes will be taught in a BMW 325xi all-wheel-drive sedan, using proven, step-by-step lesson plans. Each primary driving student’s instruction will cover vehicle dynamics, mountain, freeway and city diving and will include snow, ice and other adverse conditions, weather permitting.
