Professional portrait artist in Truckee for the holidays

Joanne Corso has been immersed in the arts all her life. She began painting at age 3 and since then, has lived, breathed and studied a variety of mediums from oils, watercolors, graphite and ink, to technical animation and filmmaking. Growing up in the Bay Area with a family of artists, Corso honed her skills as a portrait artist in San Francisco at the burgeoning Fishermanand#8217;s Wharf street scene of the 1970s.
Corso has won awards for her drawing talents, been a featured artist in major gallery shows, and worked on a variety of acclaimed film and commercial productions. These include the anthropological film about the Mayan mythology of creation, Popol Vuh.
Drawn to the Sierras in the early and#8217;90s, Corso recently moved from Calaveras County to Sierraville, where she derives inspiration from the variety of mountain habitats in close proximity to her home.
This holiday season Corso will be available for personal portraits at The Artisanand#8217;s MarketPlace in Brickelltown, Truckee. Sheand#8217;ll be on hand Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 3, 2010. She draws excellent pet portraits and people in black and white or color. The Artisanand#8217;s MarketPlace is also featuring Corsoand#8217;s one-of-a-kind painted silk scarves, cards, still and scenery paintings. There are 13 other artists and artisans represented. Friday evening the Market hosts and#8220;Meet The Artistand#8221; from 5 to 8 p.m. and serves refreshments.
