Prudential California Realty seeking community input for inaugural and#8216;Giving Day’ at Sierra Senior Services

Prudential Realty offices throughout Northern California and Nevada solicited suggestions from members of the community for the company’s inaugural and#8220;The Giving Day.and#8221;

and#8220;This event will be held company wide on Saturday, March 6,and#8221; said Kathy Ollerton, director of Charities and Training for Prudential California/Nevada Realty. and#8220;Every one of our 36 offices has been tasked with choosing a project in which everyone can participate, and that will take four hours or more to complete.and#8221;

There are more than 1,800 agents at Prudential California/Nevada Realty. Each branch office will select a community service project to perform and complete on March 6. The project has the willing volunteers and a modest budget.

and#8220;On this corporate day of giving, it is our goal to have 100 percent participation of agents and employees through the giving of time or treasure,and#8221; Ollerton said. and#8220;There is huge power and energy when people come together.and#8221;

Prudential California Realty in Truckee and Tahoe has chosen to help the Sierra Senior Services, where they serve a and#8220;Prudential Meals on Wheelsand#8221; for the day.

The Sierra Senior Center operates on contributions and grants. The more volunteers they get the more grant money the Senior Center can qualify to receive. and#8220;The economy has been very lean, and 501c3 donations are down,and#8221; according to Sarah Deardorff, executive director of Sierra Senior Services. and#8220;Many of our local seniors depend solely on the and#8216;Meals on Wheels’ and only receive warm meals two times a week.and#8221;

and#8220;There is a sustainable need in our community and it is our hope that our giving will continue beyond our company-wide Giving Day,and#8221; said Ruthie Nicholas, local chairperson for the program and Realtor for Prudential California Realty.

Prudential California Realty looked at many projects, but felt this was the one with the most need in the greater community. In Tahoe, winter conditions can make home bound seniors even more unlikely to leave their home. It is a pleasure to feed local seniors with a warm meal who would otherwise go hungry.

The Sierra Senior Services has many needs, including one on one arts and crafts time, maintenance of cars, office and staff help. Prudential is encouraging real estate agents and employees to bring in another community member to assist in The Giving Day.

The March 6 Giving Day honors the founder and president of Prudential California/Nevada Realty, Ed Krafchow.
