Queens treat seniors to royal holiday

Staff report

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Holiday Giving Program allows Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund members to bring holiday cheer into the lives of home bound seniors who are on the Meals on Wheels program. Their goal to get gifts for more than 60 seniors who are in some way isolated and/or needing care on a day-to-day basis was reached. The Meals on Wheels program staff supplies information about the specific needs and wants of seniors to help for the holidays.

Sixty-one seniors had their holiday wish lists fulfilled from donations by Queen of Hearts members for the sixth year in a row. “Look at all this,” said Sandy Madigan, nutrition program manager for Meals On Wheels. “People got everything on their wish lists, plus gift cards and more. It’s amazing.”
