We are thrilled to hear that summer music concerts are returning to the West Shore! Can’t wait to go and, at the same time, see one of the few remaining old Tahoe communities thrive. Jeff Pelline Tahoe City

Once again the blather of the Democratic Partys talking points have reached Readers Write letters to the editor (More terrorists Sierra Sun Sept. 27). Typically filled with outright lies, half truths and simplistic thinking. Our President has never tried to link Iraq to 9/11. Hussein has been fully linked to Al Qeada as well as other terrorist groups paying $25,000 to families of suicide bombers in Israel. In fact, today we received a tape from Al Qeada in Iraq promoting the use of biological and chemical weapons against the Infidels. Bin Laden himself has named the war in Iraq the main front in the war against the Infidels. Bin Laden may or may not be alive. If he is his days are numbered, and after he is killed what new complaint will the Democrats come up with? The writer also goes on to state that because we have lost more soldiers, airmen and Marines than civilians in the attacks of 9/11 that the war on terror has been a waste. I suppose that declaring war on Japan after Pearl Harbor was a waste because we lost more than 2,300 men in that war, or that storming the beaches of Normandy to defeat Hitlers Nazi regime was a waste in which we lost 8,000 in a few days, but no civilians on our soil. Such reasoning makes no sense. Once again we have a perfect example of Democratic whining with no solutions to be offered. Today we had votes in the House and Senate regarding interrogation techniques and almost 200 Democrats in the House voted in support of the terrorists, and now in Readers Write we have one more Democrat siding with the terrorists. To me thats a waste.Ted NeffKingvale

In this, my final letter to the author of More terrorists (Sierra Sun Sept. 27), I must simply ask: Sir, are you at all uncomfortable with the fact that you have chosen to side with America’s enemies?Your two letters indicate that your preference is that Saddam Hussein was still in power and that the Talibanwas still running Afghanistan. You have also chosen to join hands with Hugo Chavez, Venezuela’s verifiable nut-case, in championing Noam Chomsky’s book. Chomsky, as most people know, is one of the most virulent anti-American writers on earth, dating back to 1968. As I said, aren’t you a little uncomfortable with the company you’ve chosen to keep?Your reference to the leaked information from the National Intelligence Estimate was a day early. On Wednesday we learned that this same NIE included statements such as, Should jihadists leaving Iraq perceive … to have failed, we judge fewer fighters will be inspired to carry on the fight. And the NIE also said, Greater pluralism and more responsive political systems in Muslim majority nations would alleviate some of the grievances jihadists exploit.Do you think Hussein or the Taliban was ever going to promote more responsive political systems? That’s whatAmerica is trying to bring to Iraq and Afghanistan. And please get your history straight. The Rwandan genocide happened on Bill Clinton’s watch, not George Bush’s.I realize there is nothing I could write that would convince you to support America’s efforts to destroy terrorism. When you align yourself with Hussein, the Taliban, Hugo Chavez and Noam Chomsky, you’ve clearly decided to side with the enemy.Robert OlsonTahoma
