Readers Write: Butt progress

The Tahoe Truckee California Democratic Club just completed our second Adopt A Highway cleanup for the 2008 season. The air even cleared of smoke for a few morning hours highlighting the beautiful wildflowers lining our way on the first two miles of 267 going south. Last year I wrote the Sierra Sun noting the literally hundreds of cigarette butts lining the highway while a human-started fire was blazing along Interstate 80. I’m so happy to report that this year we found very few butts. Thank you Truckee and its visitors! We have hotter, drier weeks coming up, so please continue to keep those butts in your own car ashtray and our skies blue.
