TRUCKEE, Calif. – On behalf of Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, I want to express a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the biggest and best Santa Fly-In ever! The weather couldn’t have been better or the skies more blue on Dec. 8 when more than 600 children and family members scanned the sky for Santa’s airplane for the annual holiday stop at the Truckee Tahoe Airport. The children roared as Santa stepped onto the tarmac, greeted them with candy canes and led them into Hangar1 for a wonderful holiday party!

Thank you to our partners, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, First Five Nevada County, The Family Resource Center of Truckee (FRC) and The Flying Doctors. Thank you to Whole Treats Bakery, Abbey Carpets and Scholastic Books for making this event so special. Thank you for the amazing planning, logistical and on the ground support of the Airport District staff. Thank you to FRC elves and helpers who provided support including fun activities for the children and families.

Thank you to our wonderful Santa (shh … it is a secret) Gerald Herrick, our amazing pilot, Rob Lober and all community volunteers who helped make every child’s visit with Flying Santa a wonderful moment. More than 400 storybooks were given out to the children. What a truly special place we live in, where we can come together in a beautiful winter valley looking out at snow-capped mountains sharing the wonder of the holidays.
