Karen and Paul Honeywell, with son Cooper, knelt down on the trail to enjoy the tasty food at the gourmet ski tour Sunday.

It was a totally Tahoe afternoon Sunday March 14 with two favorite pastimes rolled into one fundraiser: outdoor exercise in glorious warm, sunny weather and a lot of gourmet noshing and#8212; in this case around the Tahoe Cross Country Center’s yellow trail.

More than 300 skiing and snow shoeing foodies came out for the Ninth Annual Gourmet Ski Tour, a benefit for the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association, the Strider Glider Program, Free Skiing For Schools, and The Winter Discovery Program, all which serve many youth in our community. Organizer Patti Lovely had the recipe down for cooking up a successful afternoon of food and fun, featuring some of the area’s best restaurants (and a winery), with a heaping portion of volunteers.

Those businesses donating their time and food for the event were: Alexander’s of Squaw Valley USA, The Bridgetender, Brockway Bakery, Blue Onion, Evergreen Cafe, Jake’s on the Lake, Lakeside Pizza, Lanza’s, Mamasake, Men Wielding Fire, Ron Allen Personal Chef, Sawtooth Ridge Cafe, Sunnyside Steakhouse, Tahoe House, Truckee River Winery, Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen, Viva Treats, and Wolfdale’s.

After leisurely making the rounds to the tented food and wine stations, already satiated foodies gathered for and#8220;dessert in the yurt,and#8221; to nibble goodies like homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies and assorted chocolate-dipped morsels. Everyone relaxed afterward outside the lodge, basking in the sun while slurping down slushy margaritas and listening to live music by Jo Mama, plopped atop a flatbed truck in the parking lot.

Some of those outdoor foodies at the ski tour included Chris and Lou Basile, Danny and Dave Brollier, Dianne Miller, Sandy Tomlinson, Jim Granger, Linda and Peter Morris, Pete Taylor, Marty Schoonmaker, Tom and Sue Rossi, Jim and Sandy Robins, Nancy and Doug McNair, Gayle and Rick Hackbarth, Tom and Sue Rossi, Adrian Tieslau and Cammie Anooshian, Michael and Patti Dowden, Linda and Peter Morris, Gail and Clyde Batavia, Steve and Laurie Gregory, Dewey and Lynda Paul, Jan and Rick Ganong, Linda and Rick Sheldon, Jenny and Dave Antonucci, Carol and Brad Hester, and Karen and Paul Honeywell

April Nicole Mancuso, daughter of Ciro Mancuso of Squaw Valley and Andrea Webber of Park City, Utah, will be married to Kerisimasi Lee Reynolds May 1 in a small destination wedding in Maui with close friends and family in attendance. Reynolds is the son of Viva and Jimmy Reynolds of Seattle, Wash. The couple will graduate from Touro University in Mare Island, Calif. June 6. Both will start residency programs in Michigan in July: Reynolds in orthopedic surgery and Mancuso in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
