Social Scene: Truckee restaurateur Mark Estee and Aly Digesti tie the knot in Napa and winter snow sports news

Aly and Mark Estee chose Whitehall Lane Winery for their beautiful wedding ceremony.

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; Mark Estee and Aly Digesti said and#8220;I doand#8221; Saturday, Oct. 2 at Whitehall Lane Winery in St. Helena, Calif. in the glorious autumn colors, surrounded by 90 of their closest family and friends. Local artist and gallery owner Andrew Bolam officiated at the ceremony. Best man was Craig Estee with groomsmen including Owen Estee (Markand#8217;s son), Matthew Digesti, Marcus Digesti and Imran Ali. The bride was attended by maid of honor Summer Edwards, La Risa Renner, Jill Carpenter, Kristin Smith, Laura Ali (Markand#8217;s sister) and Jenny Anderson.

Estee, who has ownership in two Truckee restaurants, Moodyand#8217;s Bistro and Burger Me and Baxterand#8217;s Bistro in Northstar, planned the wedding menu and hand selected chefs Guy Frenette (executive chef at Moody’s), Northstar Executive Chef Chris Banovich, and Arturo Mosconne (a close friend of the couple and executive chef at Spanish Bay Resort in Pebble Beach) to kick it up a notch for the exceptional nuptial dining experience. Highlights of the hors dand#8217;oeuvres and dinner included clam chowder in espresso cups, lobster rolls, jumbo sea scallop, jumbo prawn, Colorado lamb chop and Kobe cullotte mixed grill on top of truffled risotto and Gary Romanoand#8217;s greens. The couple honeymooned pre-wedding in Italy in June, and post wedding they relaxed at the Ventana Inn and Spa in Big Sur for five daysand#8230;..

Squaw ups its wirth

Squaw Valley CEO Andy Wirth spoke to Squaw Valley homeowners at a sold out dinner last Saturday night, Oct. 23 at Grahamand#8217;s Restaurant in Squaw Valley. Wirth was accompanied by his beautiful wife Karen, and Mike Livak and Carolyn Wallace Dee of Squaw Valley USA. He talked about his plans to make improvements to the Olympic House, the ski areaand#8217;s food and beverage offerings, the mountainand#8217;s grooming, and Squaw Valleyand#8217;s image. Also on tap are plans to crank up the ski school and get people from the parking lot to the slopes in a more efficient manner. Everyone agreed that Wirth is approachable, sincere and friendly, and a real breath of fresh air.

Graham cooked up a price fixe off-season dinner deal which filled the house. Some of the Squaw homeowners in attendance included the eveningand#8217;s organizers Sally and Dave Brew, Roy and Anne Cleghorn, Nanette and Eric Poulsen, Nancy Rygg and Reb Forte, Klaus and Rike Burmeister, Judie and David Stepner, Jackie Redmond, Terry Baker, Deb and Bud Travaille, Larry Lawrence, Lou Basile, Laura and Dr. Ed Heneveld and Carol and Dr. Jon Shanser.
