Soup & Chili Showdown in Tahoe City one hot event

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – The Tahoe City Recreation Department held their third annual Soup and Chili Showdown on Feb. 25, 2012. The Tahoe City Public Utility District thanks everyone who braved the cold weather and submitted an entry into the competition, everyone who went out to support the department by sampling and purchasing raffle tickets, and lastly, the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and all of their volunteers who were on hand selling beer and wine.This year’s big winners in the Peoples Choice category were Jess Weigel with her “Comfort Soup” and Darren Nye/Joe Rodriguez with their “Linsanity Chili.” Event judges Ron Treabess and Judy Friedman gave top honors to Michael Follette and his “Uncle Jefferson’s Twelve Chile Chili” as well as Javier Rodriguez and his “Arizona’s Answer Southwest Soup.”For the third year in a row, Java Hut took best overall professional entry with their Beef Burgundy Stew.Be sure to join them next year.
